Emergency Flights

Even small planes like the C206 used to save Pendo’s life needs fuel to operate.

Today, with fuel prices soaring, your Emergency Flights gift is needed more than ever.

Please give generously.

Pendo* was only 25 weeks pregnant when doctors discovered a life-threatening complication during what should have been a routine check-up. Pendo’s amniotic sac had ruptured and fluid was dangerously low.

The emergency care she needed simply wasn’t available in her cut-off community in Tanzania. Without immediate intervention both she and her unborn baby could die.

Time was running out. That’s when an emergency call was made.

Within minutes, an MAF plane was in the air. Racing against time and approaching storms, pilot Peter landed his airplane on the small, remote airstrip where the young mother and her medical team were waiting.

With Pendo safely secured on board, the plane was back in the air and on route to the country’s main hospital in Arusha, and a waiting team of specialists who performed an emergency C-section saving the lives of both mother and child.

One flight. Two lives saved. That’s what can happen when help, hope, and healing reach cut-off communities.

Without that flight, the outcome could have been devastating. Roads leading to Arusha are slow, rough, and almost impassable in many places. Even if a suitable vehicle was available, the bumpy ride would have taken upwards of seven hours or more.

But a single aircraft and a one-hour flight made the difference between life and death.

There are still countless mothers like Pendo. Isolated, vulnerable, and just one emergency away from tragedy. They need someone to reach them in their time of need.

Will you be that lifeline?

Your support can make it possible for another mother or baby to receive the urgent care they need before it’s too late.

Because when every second counts, the right help at the right time can change everything.

Thank you for your generosity and your prayers.

Sincerely,

Stewart Ayling

P.S. In hundreds of cut-off communities around the world, a journey that might take a day or more by road can be replaced with a flight that takes just a few hours.
